GTCC Selects Firm to Assist with Presidential Search, New Board of Trustee Member Appointed

JAMESTOWN, N.C. – Guilford Technical Community College has retained the services of the Association of Community College Trustees (ACCT) to assist with its presidential search. Additionally, the Guilford County Board of Commissioners has appointed George Ragsdale to GTCC’s Board of Trustees effective July 1, 2019.

The search for GTCC’s eighth president begins

ACCT, a nonprofit educational organization based in Washington, D.C., will work with the Board of Trustees and the Presidential Search Committee to recruit, interview, and select GTCC’s eighth president. 

Chaired by Jarvis Harris, the eight-member Presidential Search Committee represents students, staff and faculty, Board of Trustees, and the community at large.

Committee members include: Susan Alt, board of trustees chair and ex-officio member; Kevin Crowder, staff and faculty representative; Abdurrahman Henderson, student representative; Allison Mullins, board of trustee member; Lisa Stahlmann, board of trustee member; Brent Christensen, community representative; and George Ragsdale, community representative and incoming board of trustee member.

GTCC retained the services of ACCT following Dr. Randy Parker’s decision to retire effective July 31, 2019. 

George Ragsdale appointed to GTCC Board of Trustees

The Guilford County Board of Commissioners has appointed George Ragsdale to the GTCC Board of Trustees. Ragsdale will serve a four-year term beginning July 1, 2019. He will fill the seat of Susan Alt, board of trustees chair, when her term expires June 30, 2019.

Ragsdale has served on the GTCC Foundation Board of Directors since 2006 and previously served as a GTCC Board of Trustees member from 2013 – 2017.

A native of Jamestown, Ragsdale works in business development with Wells Fargo Bank in Greensboro. He also serves as a managing partner with Wrennovation Companies, a commercial real estate investment and management firm, and principal of B.R. Foxx & Co. 

Ragsdale, whose career in banking and real estate spans two decades, earned his undergraduate degree from North Carolina State University and holds a degree from the Graduate School of Banking at Louisiana State University.

He is also a member of the board of directors for the North Carolina Textile Foundation, The North Carolina Outdoor Heritage Foundation, and Family Services of the Piedmont where he is a past chairman.
